Block Scheduling

Offered in high school science and social studies courses, block scheduling is an effective tool that allows students to concentrate on fewer courses at a time in a condensed schedule (typically a nine-week period).

Block scheduling has several benefits:

  • By spending more time on each subject, students can focus their efforts on fewer subject areas without having to jump from subject to subject every day.
  • Coursework can often be completed during an extended class session with access to real-time help.
  • With a condensed schedule, students who need to recover a credit may be able to catch up more quickly.
